Rarely do I see such irony
A nightingale stops to listen to her song
Straining thro’ ears downy
For that voice struck in her breast’s gong

  1. Indeed! A nightingale did that!!!“For that voice struck in her breast’s gong” – somehow this line is clumsy methinks, as compared to the theme of the poem, and the softness of the other lines. I think “breast’s gong” is the culprit..
